Privacy Policy

Packing Helper is an iPhone and iPad app made by Todd Louison, an independent developer. This policy covers the app and this website. Questions? Email [email protected].

Your content stays yours

Everything you create in the app, like trips, lists, templates, photos, and saved chats, is stored on your device and, if you use iCloud, synced through your private iCloud account. I have no access to it. Apple's handling of iCloud data is covered by the Apple Privacy Policy.

When data leaves your device

Some features need to send data to a service to work. Each only sends what it needs, only when you use it.

• AI packing assistant (Plus). When you send a message, it's sent with the details of the trip you're asking about and your lists, which may include your past trips and templates so suggestions match how you pack. This goes through my server to a third-party AI provider, currently Anthropic, which generates the reply. The app asks your permission before you use the assistant for the first time.
• Purchases. Apple handles payment; I never see your payment details. RevenueCat manages subscriptions using an anonymous ID and your purchase history, which isn't connected to your name or email.
• Cover photos. When the app finds a cover photo, your destination or search is sent to Unsplash, and photos load from their servers.
• Weather and places. Forecasts and place search use Apple Weather and Apple Maps, which receive your destination or what you type.

My server doesn't store your messages or trip details. It keeps only the anonymous ID's usage count and short-term logs, as long as needed to run the service, then deletes them automatically. My server and this website are hosted by Cloudflare.

The app doesn't use your device's location, and only sees photos you choose from your library.

This website

If you sign up for updates, I keep your email address only to tell you about Packing Helper, and delete it when you unsubscribe. Every email includes a way to unsubscribe. The signup form uses Cloudflare Turnstile to block bots. The site has no analytics or tracking cookies.

What I don't do

No advertising, no analytics or tracking in the app, and no tracking across other apps or websites. I don't sell personal data or share it except with the providers above, and only so they can do their part.

Deleting your data

Delete anything in the app at any time, or delete the app to remove everything from your device. Synced data can be removed from your iCloud storage settings. For anything else, email [email protected].

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or get a copy of your personal data, or to object to how it's used. Email me and I'll respond within 30 days. You can also contact your local data protection authority. Data may be processed in the United States and other countries where these providers operate.

Children

Packing Helper isn't directed at children under 13, and I don't knowingly collect their personal data. If you think a child has sent me personal data, email me and I'll delete it.

Changes

If this policy changes, I'll update it here with a new effective date, and mention significant changes in the app's release notes.
